Olympic Cycle

This month we will running a 5 week Olympic Cycle. This is a chance for everyone, new and old members alike, to improve on these complicated lifts. For the new member, there are two Olympic Lifts; the snatch and the clean & jerk. In many ways, these movements are the culmination and final expression of everything we do in CrossFit. To excel at these lifts requires balance, flexibility, strength, power, speed, agility, coordination and accuracy. You also may have noticed there are a lot of variations on these lifts. We utilize different variations, such as the power snatch or the hang clean to focus on elements of the full lift. It helps to familiarize yourself with the terminology. I would ask that you pay special attention in the coming month to these lifts. Just a reminder also that Yosh runs an Olympic focused specialty class every Wednesday evening at 730pm.  For the new member the focus this month should be on technique rather than adding heavy weight. This is also a good time to work directly with the coaches on scaling options; if you are someone with rotator cuff injuries or mobility challenges then the snatch may not be a good movement for you. See a coach if this is the case.

January 11th: Power Clean

January 14th: Clean

January 19th: Power Snatch

January 22nd: Snatch

January 25th: Hang Clean

January 29th: Clean Complex

February 2nd: Hang Snatch

February 5th: Snatch Complex

*you will also be working Jerk variations separately throughout the month.
