Hook Grip

Last week we introduced the Hang Power Clean. If you were in any of my classes that day, you heard me stress the importance of what’s called the ‘Hook Grip’. Today, we want to utilize this tool once more, in order to control our grip. Higher sets of Hang Power Cleans will be in the WOD and being able to adapt to the Hook Grip means that our arms will lessen with tension, avoiding a pulling action. Using this today will make your reps more efficient and easier of a transition into the next movement.

In the meantime…. HOOK GRIP EVERYTHING. Anything you can get a full grip around (Grocery bag handles, Poles on the bus or T as shown above, etc…) Get used to it. Love it. Use it.

WOD

5 rounds

7 Hang Power Cleans (115/75)

5 Push Press

*Rest :30 between rounds

    Awesome 930 class today! Everyone looked great, keep up the hard work 🙂
    Deadlift: 235# x3
    I haven’t deadlifted in a while and Ive had the chance twice in the past week. I definitely need to find my newest 1 rep max, these felt good.
