Move like an elevator

Today we will be performing Overhead Squats. An important performance point to keep in mind is your breathing pattern and weight displacement. Once the bar is over your head take a very large breath through your stomach; this will help focus the weight through your trunk and over your legs. Our goal from this point on until the rep is completed, is to lower our hips in a controlled manner while maintaining upward pressure to the bar. In other words, REACH! Bar path should remain in a straight line with the weight supported through your shoulders, over your hips, and through your legs. When finding the right position, consider your ‘sweet spot’ to be over the middle of your foot. Too far forward or backwards and we will lose the lift. Speed on this lift is dictated by how much control we have with the bar over our body.
